Music for Bedford Borough is the lead organisation and takes responsibility for Hub funding and governance.

It is part of Bedford Borough Council and oversees the educational vision, ethos and direction of the Hub. MfBB supports schools to deliver high-quality music education through a range of networking and CPD opportunities. It delivers whole class projects in schools, offers low-cost instrument hire to schools and families, organises large-scale events and supports a number of different out of school pathways and progression routes.

Bedford Music Cooperative provides individual and small group instrumental and vocal tuition in schools and community hubs across Bedford Borough. Experienced teachers offer tuition and ensemble opportunities from beginner to advanced students on a wide variety of instruments, including voice. BMC also organise some large-scale events such as Fiddle Fiestas.

Castle Newnham School is a mixed all-through school, 4-16 years, located over two sites in Bedford, Bedfordshire.

Castle Newnham never stands still in their quest to secure a fantastic school experience and a bright future for each of our pupils. The school is the very proud home of the Music Hub building which is shared with the school’s award-winning performing arts department.

The Sound Garage is a small professional recording studio based in Bedford.

Run by Ben Garraway who has 20 years experience in the music industry and music education. As well as recording and music production services, Ben also offers guitar and drumming lessons to students of all ages.

Musical Seeds provides workshops, lessons and training in DJing, music technology and music production.

It also runs projects in the community and provides support to community groups and educational establishments.

Bedfordshire Music Trust offers weekend and holiday courses to children and young people across Bedfordshire.

These include: Bedfordshire Youth Opera, Bedfordshire Youth Choir, Orchestral Jamboree, Four Hubs Symphony Orchestra, Chamber Music Courses

The Bedfordshire Festival of Music Speech and Drama. The Bedfordshire Festival provides a showcase for the wealth of talent and amateur performing arts in Bedfordshire and the surrounding area.

It offers a wide range of classes for all ages covering many musical genres including Classical, Musical Theatre, Jazz and Asian music. Categories include school groups, Special School groups, orchestras, wind bands, junior and senior choirs and group creative performance.

Bedford Creative Arts (an Arts Council England National Portfolio Organisation) is a contemporary art charity dedicated to commissioning high-quality art with communities and working with artists to explore new developments in socially engaged art practice.

They produce the Culture Challenge programme for schools and cultural providers.

The Place, Bedford has developed a reputation among local audiences as one of the best places to see high-quality and cutting-edge professional theatre, as well as being the home of Bedford’s best amateur and community-led theatre companies. 

A growing number of opportunities are being offered to children and young people through the Youth Arts Projects that are run across the year.

Philharmonia Orchestra. A world-class orchestra based in London at Southbank Centre’s Royal Festival Hall that has a Bedford residency.

The Philharmonia are committed to delivering projects and initiatives that support MEH’s strategic aims and nurture the next generation of talent. Orchestra Unwrapped is a long-running programme of concerts for school children.

Cool4School offer engaging, dynamic and interactive online resources to support song, rhythm and dance in schools.  All songs are original compositions created by a team of award-winning musicians. 

Bedford Music Hub work in partnership with Cool4School on the delivery of their Sing On projects in schools and performances at the Corn Exchange across the year.

Modern Drum Tuition is a Bedford based drum school run by successful young drummer and teacher, Chris Purser.

Chris teaches all levels from beginner to advanced and has over 10 years’ experience.

Vocal Works offer contemporary singing lessons and vocal ensembles for young people of all ages and abilities. All sessions are delivered online and taught by highly experienced vocal coaches and music industry professionals.

Bedford Town Band are a brass band with three bands within the band family: Town Band, Concert Brass and Progress Brass, accommodating players of all abilities.

They also offer a Brass Academy, which provides brass tuition to young people attending any Bedford Borough school and also caters for beginners of any age and those returning to playing after a break. The tuition is tailored to suit the individual, delivered in one-to-one, small group, and larger ensemble environments.

Royal Opera House Bridge is funded by Arts Council England and is part of a national network of ten ‘bridge’ organisations.

It works to connect children and young people with great art and culture. Through research, advocacy and co-investment, bridge organisations nurture networks, share learning and foster innovation within the education, arts and culture sector.

Friends of Bedfordshire Youth Music. The Friends is a registered charity that supports the work of Bedfordshire Music Trust and the music services of Bedford Borough, Central Bedfordshire, Milton Keynes and the Borough of Luton.

It seeks to promote and sustain orchestral musical performances by young people.
