About the bands

Bedford Town Band

Town Band takes part in three or four contests annually at regional and national levels. Its members also enjoy concert work. The Band is also active around Bedford for events such as Remembrance Day and Christmas carolling.

Bedford Town Concert Band

Concert Brass is for competent players who prefer playing concerts rather than contesting. Formed in 1999 it provides a good platform for players to gain valuable performance experience and preparation to take their playing further should they wish to do so.

Bedford Town Academy

The Academy was established towards the end of 2019. Its principal purpose is to promote brass playing at Castle Newnham School by providing lessons for young players, but with the broader goal of extending this provision to other schools in Bedford Borough over time. Teaching is also provided for older beginners, those returning to brass playing after a break and for family members of those within the Bedford Town Band organisation.
